If only he'd lived a few years later in West Lancashire, he'd have realised that the even greater thrill, for young and old, is the sight of the parkrun finish and funnel. For Wordsworth in the Lakes it was rainbows. Here Wordsworth speaks of the sudden joy he feels when he sees a rainbow, and reflects that he's felt this way ever since he was a child and hopes he always will. (Can't remember whether I omitted last 2 lines as intended or not.) (Wordsworth is a poet of Nature and in this poem he reflects on one aspect of the natural world which gives him a particular buzz.) Robbie began by reminding everyone that all under 11s must be accompanied by or at least be in sight of a parent, guardian or designated adult at all times. Run Director Robbie was in charge of proceedings today. “Apart from yourself, Mark, are there any Ormskirk parkrunners running in the Southport Half Marathon this coming Sunday?” asks Stavros, who takes a keen interest in the extra-curricular activities of all Ormskirk parkrunners.Īt 9am on the 25th of June 2016 at Edge Hill University, Ormskirk, the United Kingdom, planet earth, the temperature was 16 ̊C, feeling like 18 ̊C, with no rain, no sleet, no snow, no thunderstorms, no baggy trousers, 57% cloud cover, 83% humidity and a 6 mph north-north-westerly wind. You can take your pick of parochial parkruns!! Perhaps this would be a good chance to do a spot of parkrun tourism, either running or volunteering, at one of the parkruns nearby. This is because there is another event taking place at Edge Hill University that day. While I’m here, I’d also like to remind readers that there will be no parkrun event at Ormskirk on the 10th of September 2016. We hope to see you all there!! Ormskirk parkrun is not sure if Anne is going to make Southport her new home run (well, I’m not anyway) but if she does we will be sorry to see her switch allegiances and we hope she will visit us at least once a month, which I’m sure she will.īefore beginning this week’s report I would like once again to bring readers’ attention to our "PICNIC IN THE PARK” event on the 23rd July. Anne recorded the time of 24:33 (75.76% ags) and is now the second-fastest runner in the VW55-59 category over at Southport. I was of course alluding to the fact that our most stalwart runner and defending female points-champion Anne GIRDLER (VW55-59) ran at a parkrun event somewhere other than Ormskirk for the first time in 108 runs!!!!! Anne ran in event #3 of Southport parkrun this week. I’m sure it hasn’t escaped any parkrunner’s notice that we were all privileged to witness a truly epoch-making event last week!!ĭon’t worry, Kioseus, I’m not going to refer to or make any references to anything beginning with “r” for “referendum” in this week’s referendum report.
